HYDRAULIC CALCULATION OF WAVE PARAMETERS IN RESERVOIRS WITH
Abstract
The article examines the problem of surface-wave propagation on a current featuring large-scale turbulence in flowing reservoirs. In the course of the research, a scientific analysis was carried out of the main factors influencing the processes of alongshore currents that occur during wave–current interactions. As a result of the study, relationships were obtained for determining the parameters of wind waves on currents in reservoirs with complex configurations. The previously derived computational relationships for determining wave parameters under conditions of wave–current superposition were refined. It is demonstrated that reservoirs constructed in foothill and mountainous regions are characterized by significantly more complex shoreline transformation processes compared to lowland reservoirs. The stages of forecasting wind waves in a flowing reservoir with a complex configuration are presented, and an algorithm is proposed for calculating alongshore currents with consideration of waves in foothill reservoirs. A method is proposed for forecasting wind waves in flowing reservoirs where wave development in the fetch zone is influenced by steady currents and the limited width of the water area.
