Abstract

This article addresses the issues of mathematical modeling of water flow velocity and pressure parameters. The theoretical basis relies on the Bernoulli and Navier–Stokes equations, while the dynamic and kinematic viscosity of water is analyzed. To determine flow regimes in open channels, the Reynolds number is applied, providing a scientific justification for laminar, transitional, and turbulent conditions. Using the Flow Simulation module of SolidWorks, the distribution of velocity and pressure through a sluice gate has been simulated. The results demonstrate the inverse relationship between velocity and pressure variations, confirm the principle of energy conservation, and highlight the risk of cavitation. Furthermore, the nonlinear nature of flow, the influence of turbulence, and the necessity of empirical observations are emphasized. The findings are of practical importance for the design of hydropower, irrigation systems, and hydraulic engineering structures.
