STUDY OF THE PHYSICO-MECHANICAL AND THERMAL PROPERTIES OF POLYETHYLENE MODIFIED WITH ZINC TEREFTALATE
Abstract
In this study, the physico-mechanical and thermal properties of polyethylene modified with zinc terephthalate were studied. The use of modifiers in the production of polymer composite materials allows for a significant improvement in the operational properties of the materials. In the research process, zinc terephthalate was introduced into the composition of polyethylene in an amount of 1-15%, and the tensile strength, degree of deformation, and flammability properties of the resulting composite materials were determined. Mechanical tests were conducted on the AGS-X universal testing device, and combustion properties were assessed based on the oxygen index method according to GOST 12.1.044-89 and ISO 4589-1. The obtained results showed an increase in the oxygen index in modified polyethylene samples and an improvement in the thermal stability of the material. Also, an increase in the amount of modifier enhances the interfacial interaction in the polymer structure, increasing the mechanical properties of the composite material.
